MemoTune review: what we found in testing

Author: nopetnoget editors ·

Test scenario

Step 1

Is it clear in 10 seconds what the product does and who it’s for?

The first screen is excellent: AI Song Generator, all clear! "Describe your desired sound or add lyrics, choose a mood, and generate a song with no licensing fees for Spotify, YouTube, TikTok, etc. — no musical skills required." A huge plus is that there's an input window for your prompt right on the first screen, which leads you to the target action – registration and song generation.

Step 2

How many sign-up steps are there, and is a card required immediately?

Registration via Google Auth works stably and quickly. During registration, the provider takes not only your email and nickname but also your logo – this personalization and attention to detail is appealing.

Step 3

Are newcomers guided, or dropped into an empty interface?

Everything is intuitively simple: just one textarea form for prompting! Great, but... Next to the generation form, there's an Instrumental setting that's not entirely clear for a new user, and you immediately don't know whether to enable this option or not! And the Randomizer button overwrites your prompt without warning. I think these two options are unnecessary for the first page and this form. Also, the cost is unclear and how many attempts the user has for free generation – the Create button gives no indication to answer these questions.

Step 4

How long from “Get started” to the first useful result?

You can get your first song within 2-3 minutes after sending the prompt from the main screen – that's excellent. Fast. The composition is created in the language of the prompt and overall has decent quality both in sound and content. By default, the song is performed as a duet: female and male vocals. The second version of the song also has a noticeable difference, which is great for creators who like to choose. There are questions about the melody, but for a pop song this is probably not a key quality indicator, and the model 'reproduced' it. Conclusion: there's a feeling that the song could rank in the TOP charts. Time: 4:00

Step 5

Does the product work on a different task beyond the demo case?

The service allows you to create a second song for free. This will help you better assess the quality of the composition and generation speed.

Step 6

Where does the free plan end, and what breaks on unusual input?

Unfortunately, you cannot download your 'own' song to your device, and after the second generation, your credits run out. But the service still allows you to share the work via a link that opens the track on a public URL.

Step 7

On the payment screen, is it clear what you are paying for?

Basic monthly plan – $9.9. The project team declares that with this plan you can create 200 high-quality songs. This is significantly more than competitors offer. The maximum plan at $29.9 gives you 2000 songs! With annual commitments, clients can save 30 to 50%. There is no option to purchase any number of tokens separately.

Step 8

How do you unsubscribe, delete the account, and export your data?

We didn't see the option to delete an account, but there is a feedback form – if desired, this can be done by requesting it from the project team. It's worth noting: while using the service, such a desire did not arise!

Three focus questions

Focus 1

How clear is the product onboarding?

There are certain moments with unclear form settings for generation on the main screen, but the service does an excellent job guiding new users to 'first value' – a well-generated song from the user's prompt.

Focus 2

Is the pricing logical?

Yes. But there's no option to purchase a limited number of tokens, only monthly plans. On the other hand, the pricing starting at $6.9 per month deserves client attention and is not a limiting factor.

Focus 3

Does the product fit the stated target audience?

Yes, the product fits the stated target audience well.

Takeaways

01 What worked Speed, simplicity of use, and quality of generated content.
02 What annoyed No remarks.
03 Who it’s not for Users who want a completely free music/song generation service and those who want to download created songs to their device on a free plan. The service does not allow downloading tracks to a device if you haven't subscribed.
04 Fix first Simplify the form on the first screen.
